There is the nude that looked perfect in the tube and turned orange the second it touched your lips. The red that is nearly right, just a shade too blue. The one you finally loved, worn down to a stub and discontinued in 2019. And the four you bought because the girl at the counter was lovely and you felt rude leaving empty handed.
None of them were made for you. They were mixed in a factory for the average of ten thousand faces, and yours was never one of them.
Custom means it starts with your lips and individual style. This colour will only ever exist on you.
What you’ll get with us
Not a purchase. A sit down experience.
You get a 1 on 1 sit down consultation, not a spot in a queue. We ask what you are going for. Everyday, or the kind of colour you put on when you want to be noticed. If you are unsure, that is completely normal, we can make some recommendations and start somewhere in your comfort zone.
We then discuss bases (we have 9 to choose from) depending on the look, feel and payoff you like to wear on your lips e.g Matte, Crème, Gloss etc. We select pigments and drop them one at a time, mixed by hand in front of you. You try it on. You look in the mirror and say warmer, or less, or that is a bit much for school pickup. We change it. You try it again.
That loop is the entire thing, and it runs until we have reached your perfect custom colour, look and feel.

Nothing is premade and nothing is guessed. You sit down with us and we build the colour together, in front of you, with you and for you.
We sit down and talk
Everyday or event? Something you can wear to work every morning, or something for one night in a specific dress? If you are stuck on what colour you would like to achieve, don’t stress it’s common, we are here to make recommendations and ensure that what we create together is ultra flattering and within your comfort zone. The second part of our consultation is helping you choose the right base for your creations look and feel, along with choices of additives and flavours that compliment your custom blends individuality.
We mix, one drop at a time
Pigments go in a drop at a time and get blended in front of you as we work together to achieve a close starting point based on your brief and consultation
You try it on. Then we bend the colour from side to side.
We mix a little base into the pigments and you apply it to your own lips, did we nail the colour brief? Sometimes yes, but often there is still work to be done. Too bold, tone it down. More brown. Less pink. Warmer. We mix again, and you try again. There is no limit on this part and no polite point where we start rushing you. We don’t stop until they’re happy and it is uniquely yours.
We pour it and case it
Once the shade is right, the base goes in, it is melted down, poured into the mould, set, and cased. You watch the whole thing happen. The lipstick that comes out of that mould is the first and only one of its kind and exclusively yours.
It stays yours forever
Your formula is written down and kept on file under your name. When you are running on empty and ready to reorder your custom creation contact us, we will remake it for your at half the original cost as we already have the formula and there’s no need for the sit-down reconsultation.

Four ways to choose an experience
Every session includes the consultation, choice of base, additives and colour adjustments and the finished product to take home. Prices are per person, and nothing gets added at the end.
Booking a custom experience is the only way to guarantee we are free when you arrive.
Custom Lip Gloss Creation
Easy to wear and ultra versatile, and the one kids and teenagers love (but a gloss is for all ages). Choose your colour and/or your shimmer, blend it, walk out with it. A school holiday regular.
Custom Liquid Matte Creation
That plush, modern, stays put finish in a colour that exists nowhere else. The popular pick for formals, weddings and anything being photographed.
Custom Lipstick Creation
The full custom lipstick experience. A bullet lipstick blended drop by drop, tried on as many times as you like, then cast, set and cased in front of you.
Lipstick & Lip Gloss Creation
Blend your lipstick, then blend a gloss to layer over it or to contrast against it. Twice the product, one sitting, and the pair are made to work together.

Our Story
Back to the blending we love
Hella Deluxe is our 2nd time around using this world class technology allowing us to create high-quality custom blended lipsticks and glosses. We previously had 4 glamours years mixing pigments, making custom makeup and throwing epic group events. We had a different name, a different location and made 1000’s of custom lip looks for our happy and loyal customers. Cut to 2020 and we all know that year and the ones to follow lead us all on different unforeseen paths.
After some time away on different side quests including family time, industry changes and personal growth, Hella Deluxe 1.0 was born. Always passionate about creating things, crafting, designing and anything hands on really, we started off small by becoming a stockist at Ecocentric Sisters. We made jams, pickles, other handmade crafts and prints with great success in store. The store then took a different direction, it moved from Ripley Town Centre to the Ipswich Mall on Nicholas Street where a new era, space and vibe was created.
Given the stores new space and the vibing of the surrounding community we knew it was time for Hella Deluxe 2.0, Custom Creations and Cosmetics. So here we are today, back to creating the custom blended lipsticks and glosses that we always loved doing. Not only do we specialise in custom creations we also have a full range of ready to wear mineral makeup, skin care galore and a tanning mousse. I have no idea what colour I want. Is that a problem?
Not at all! That’s what we’re here for. You don’t need to arrive with a shade in mind. During your consultation, we’ll explore your preferences, complexion and the colours you naturally gravitate towards. Whether you’re looking for an everyday favourite or something completely different, we’ll guide you through the possibilities. You’ll get to try colours along the way as we blend, adjust and refine your creation. Sometimes the perfect shade is one you never would have thought to choose!
How long does a session take?
Do you run any promotions?
Yes! We love treating our Hella Deluxe community with special offers, seasonal promotions and exclusive experiences. From school holiday activities and gift-with-purchase offers to our popular Sunday Sip & Create sessions, there’s often something exciting happening. Do I take it home the same day?
Yes! Your custom lipstick or lip gloss is created during your session, so you can take your finished creation home with you on the day. From choosing your colours to blending and perfecting your shade, you’ll be part of the process every step of the way. Create it. Love it. Take it home.
Do you colour match discontinued Lipsticks?
Absolutely! If your favourite lipstick has been discontinued, we can work on a colour match to recreate the shade as close to the original as possible. Bring along your remaining lipstick and we’ll use a small swatch as a reference during the colour match process. A colour match on a discontinued lipstick costs $75 as you leave the sample with us and we continually work on it for up to 2 days to ensure we have the closest match possible for you.

Your experience includes a personalised consultation, colour blending, the opportunity to try and refine your shade, and your finished custom creation to take home.
Can I bring someone with me?
Absolutely! You’re welcome to bring a friend, partner or family member along to share in the experience. They can help you explore colours, offer a second opinion and enjoy watching your custom creation come to life.
Is it suitable for kids?
Yes! Our Custom Lip Gloss Making Experience is a fun and interactive activity for kids, it’s a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday, enjoy a school holiday activity or simply let their inner sparkle shine. For age suitability, supervision requirements and available sessions, please contact us before booking.
Can I get the exact same shade again later?
Yes! We keep a record of your custom colour formula so you can return and have your favourite shade recreated. Simply contact us when you’re ready for a refill and we’ll recreate it for you for half the original price.

Can I just walk in?
Yes! Walk-ins are welcome during our quieter times and are subject to availability. If you’re hoping to create a custom lipstick or lip gloss, we recommend booking ahead to secure your preferred time and ensure we can give you the full personalised experience. You’re also welcome to visit us during trading hours to explore our ready-to-wear makeup, skincare and tanning ranges, no appointment needed.
